Editorial Policy
Documented criteria, research methodology, cohort definitions, and evidence standards governing inclusion on architects.bd.
1. Editorial Cohorts
architects.bd groups directory entries into defined editorial cohorts based on documented professional trajectory and built portfolio scale. These cohorts are NOT a numerical ranking or quality grading. We strictly reject hierarchical or commercial vocabulary such as "official top architects," "mid-range," or "cheap."
Established Architects
(প্রতিষ্ঠিত স্থপতিবৃন্দ)Living and practising architects with an extensive portfolio, recognized national and international contributions to the built environment, and decades of studio leadership in Bangladesh.
Selected Architects
(নির্বাচিত স্থপতিবৃন্দ)Selected contemporary architects in Bangladesh demonstrating distinct design rigor, high quality of built work, and active studio practice.
Historical Archive
(ঐতিহাসিক সংরক্ষণাগার)A distinct historical archive commemorating deceased masters who pioneered modern architecture in Bangladesh.
2. Four Independent Operational States
Unlike promotional directories that collapse all claims into a single "verified" badge, architects.bd maintains four strictly independent concepts:
- Editorial Publication State (Draft / In Review / Approved / Published / Archived): Governs whether a profile is in preparation or live. Human editorial approval via Filament is required; no profile is auto-published by AI or bots.
- Fact-Review Status (Unreviewed / Partially Sourced / Fully Verified / Disputed): Measures factual corroboration against cited primary sources.
- Identity Claim Status (Unclaimed / Pending / Verified / Rejected): Indicates whether the listed architect or authorized studio representative has asserted control over their listing. "Identity claimed" does not imply institutional licensing, IAB affiliation, or commercial endorsement.
- Media Rights Permission (Unknown / Pending / Approved / Rejected / Revoked): Strictly governs architectural photography. Neutral geometric placeholders are used whenever written reproduction rights are absent.
3. Two-Source Corroboration Standard
For substantive biographical narratives, founding dates, and major commission claims, our research protocol requires corroboration from at least two credible sources. Preferred sources include:
- Official architect and studio portfolio websites
- Professional body directories and documented symposium monographs
- Academic institutions and university faculty archives
- International and national award organizers (e.g., Aga Khan Award for Architecture, IAB Design Awards)
- Reputable peer-reviewed architectural journals and monographs
4. Platform Operator Neutrality
Any profile belonging to the platform operator or affiliated contributors is subjected to the exact same editorial review, data schema, cohort rationale, and verification process as third-party architects. It receives no special badge, no preferential search placement, and no consultation routing bias.
